The Full Moon in Aquarius & The Nodal Shift That Opens a New 20‑Month Chapter
Full Moon in Aquarius exact 12:35am AEST, Thursday 30 July 2026 · Brisbane time
Late July 2026 is not a quiet week in the sky. We have Mercury stationing direct, Saturn turning retrograde, a Full Moon in Aquarius that’s carrying some serious weight, and the Lunar Nodes changing signs for the first time in almost two decades, all within about a week of each other. This is the kind of window I’d normally only see once or twice in a client’s entire life. Let’s get into it.

✦ The Sequence
Here’s Everything Happening, In Order
All times converted to Brisbane, Queensland (AEST, UTC+10). This is a tightly packed run of cosmic events, so having the order straight matters.
24 July
Mercury Stations Direct
Mercury turns direct at 16°18′ Cancer (station exact around 8:57am AEST on 24 July, following the US station on 23 July local time). The fog of the Cancer retrograde starts to lift. Conversations, contracts, and decisions around home and family finally get traction again.
26 July
The Lunar Nodes Shift: North Node into Aquarius, South Node into Leo
The single biggest story of the month. This axis hasn’t been activated since 2007–2008. It marks the start of a roughly 20-month chapter that runs through to March 2028.
26 July
Saturn Stations Retrograde in Aries
Saturn turns retrograde at 14°45′ Aries on the very same day as the Nodal shift. Saturn will spend the coming months reviewing what’s been built since it entered Aries, asking us to strengthen foundations before pushing forward again.
28–29 July
Venus Squares Mars
An exact Venus-Mars square builds through these two days, stirring up the push-pull between what you want in love and connection versus what you want to chase and achieve. It separates into early August.
29 July, ~10:15pm
Sun-Jupiter Cazimi in Leo
Exact around 10:11pm–10:17pm AEST on 29 July, at 6° Leo. Jupiter sits in the literal heart of the Sun, its own home sign, one of the most fortunate placements in astrology. This lands just hours before the Full Moon peaks.
29–30 July
Full Moon in Aquarius
Exact at 12:35am AEST on 30 July (14:35 UTC on 29 July), just over two hours after the Jupiter cazimi. The Sun in Leo is still fused with Jupiter while the Moon in Aquarius sits close to Pluto. More on why this particular Full Moon is such a big deal below.
✦ Full Moon in Aquarius
The Full Moon That Asks You to Belong Without Shrinking
This is the Buck Moon, the traditional name for July’s Full Moon, and this year it falls in Aquarius while the Sun sits in Leo. That’s the whole story of this lunation in one line: the Leo-Aquarius axis, the individual and the collective, lit up together.
What’s exact, and why it matters
Full Moon 12:35am AEST, 30 JulyMoon at 6°30′ AquariusJupiter cazimi ~10:15pm AEST, 29 JulyMoon near Pluto
A Full Moon is simply the moment the Sun and Moon sit in perfect opposition, one fully illuminating the other. Just hours before it peaks, Jupiter does something rare: at around 10:11pm to 10:17pm AEST on 29 July, it sits in exact cazimi with the Sun at 6° Leo, meaning Jupiter is sitting in the literal heart of the Sun. Leo is the Sun’s own home sign, so this is Jupiter being welcomed in like an honoured guest, amplifying luck, generosity, and recognition at one of its strongest possible settings, right before the Full Moon peak.
Meanwhile, the Moon in Aquarius is sitting close to Pluto, which gives this Full Moon real depth underneath its brightness. It’s not a light, fizzy lunation. It’s one that surfaces questions about power, belonging, and where you’ve been performing for approval instead of showing up as yourself.
In plain terms: this Full Moon illuminates the tension between wanting to be personally seen (Leo, the Sun’s side) and wanting to belong to something bigger than yourself (Aquarius, the Moon’s side). Whatever you’ve been building quietly is about to meet the light. And with Jupiter this dignified, the odds are genuinely in your favour.
✦ The Nodal Shift
North Node Into Aquarius, South Node Into Leo
If the Full Moon is the headline of the week, the Nodal shift is the headline of the next twenty months. This is the part I want you to really sit with.
What the Nodes actually are
The Lunar Nodes aren’t planets. They’re the two mathematical points where the Moon’s orbit crosses the Sun’s path, and in astrology they’re treated as a spiritual axis of growth. The North Node points to what we’re collectively stretching toward. The South Node points to the pattern we already know too well, the one we’re being asked to graduate from.
Every 18 to 19 months, the Nodes shift into a new pair of opposite signs. On 26 July 2026, they move out of Pisces and Virgo, where they’ve sat since early 2025, and into Aquarius and Leo. This exact axis hasn’t been active since 2007 to 2008, so if you were an adult back then, some of this is going to feel familiar in a bone-deep way.
What this axis is asking of all of us
The South Node in Leo asks us to release the habit of needing applause to feel real. Ego-driven “look at me” leadership, grandstanding, needing to be the main character in every room. That’s the pattern we’re graduating from.
The North Node in Aquarius calls us toward something more collective: innovation, genuine community, shared humanitarian goals, and the willingness to be one voice among many rather than the only one that matters. It’s a twenty month invitation running from 26 July 2026 through to around 26 March 2028, and it will touch almost every major news story, social movement, and personal reinvention story you hear over that stretch.
The sweet spot isn’t abandoning your individuality. It’s learning to use your Leo-side warmth, generosity, and creative spark in service of something bigger than your own spotlight.

The Question I Get Asked The Most
Does This Hit Your Sun, Moon, or Rising Sign Hardest?
Honestly, all three matter, but they matter in different ways, and this is where a lot of horoscope content oversimplifies things.
Your Moon sign feels a Full Moon the fastest and the most emotionally. This is a lunar event, so if your Moon is in Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, or Scorpio (the four “fixed” signs), expect this one to land in your body before your brain has caught up.
Your Sun sign is where you’ll feel the identity-level theme, especially if your Sun is in Leo, since the Sun and Jupiter are literally sitting there together. It’s your core sense of self and purpose being asked to expand.
Your Rising sign is actually the one that determines the longest-lasting, most structural impact of the Nodal shift specifically. Your Rising sign sets your entire chart’s house structure, so it decides which area of your life (career, relationships, home, money, and so on) the North Node in Aquarius and South Node in Leo will occupy for the next twenty months. If you know your Rising sign, that’s the one to track for this particular shift.
If you don’t know your Rising sign yet, that’s genuinely one of the first things I help clients uncover in a session, because so much of accurate personal forecasting depends on it.
✦ Sign by Sign
How the Nodal Shift & Full Moon Move Through Every Sign
Read this for your Sun sign first, then again for your Rising sign if you know it. The Nodal themes below run for the full twenty months; the Full Moon themes are specific to late July.
♈
Aries
21 Mar – 19 Apr
Saturn’s retrograde turn happens in your own sign, so late July is a foundation check on whatever you’ve built since Saturn arrived. The Nodal axis lands in your community and career houses, pulling you to trade solo hustle for real collaboration.
♉
Taurus
20 Apr – 20 May
As a fixed sign, you’ll feel this Full Moon in your body. The Nodal shift highlights your beliefs, study, and long-distance connections, asking you to release outdated convictions and expand into genuinely new thinking.
♊
Gemini
21 May – 20 Jun
The Nodes move through your shared resources and intimacy sector. Old patterns around control, debt, or emotional merging are up for release, in favour of more honest, equal partnership.
♋
Cancer
21 Jun – 22 Jul
Mercury finally stations direct in your own sign on 24 July, easing communication and decision-making. The Nodal shift then moves into your partnership house, asking for more reciprocity in your closest one-on-one bonds.
♌
Leo
23 Jul – 22 Aug
This is your season, and the Sun-Jupiter cazimi sits right in your sign, one of the luckiest placements you’ll see all decade. But the South Node also lands in Leo, so the invitation is to let your visibility serve something bigger than personal applause.
♍
Virgo
23 Aug – 22 Sep
You’re finally released from the South Node’s grip on your sign after eighteen months of quiet, often invisible growth. The Nodal shift now moves into your daily habits and wellbeing sector, asking for sustainable routines over perfectionism.
♎
Libra
23 Sep – 22 Oct
The Nodal axis activates your romance, creativity, and self-expression house. Old, ego-driven relationship patterns are ready to be released in favour of more authentic, community-minded connection.
♏
Scorpio
23 Oct – 21 Nov
Another fixed sign, so this Full Moon hits your emotional body directly. The Nodes move through your home and family sector, calling you toward a more communal, chosen-family model of belonging.
♐
Sagittarius
22 Nov – 21 Dec
The Nodal shift lands in your communication and local community house. You’re being asked to trade grand, individual pronouncements for genuine dialogue and listening.
♑
Capricorn
22 Dec – 19 Jan
The Nodes move through your money and values sector. Old patterns of tying your worth to status or achievement are up for release, in favour of building security that includes and supports others.
♒
Aquarius
20 Jan – 18 Feb
The North Node lands directly in your sign for the first time in almost twenty years. This is a genuinely rare, personally significant twenty-month window for reinventing who you are and what you stand for.
♓
Pisces
19 Feb – 20 Mar
You’re stepping out of eighteen months with the North Node in your own sign. The Nodal shift now moves into your private, behind-the-scenes sector, asking for quiet rest and inner processing rather than outward striving.

✦ Working With The Energy
Three Ways to Actually Use This Window
Awareness on its own doesn’t move your life forward. What you do with it in the next few days does.
01
Name what you’ve outgrown
Before the Full Moon peaks, write down one identity, habit, or relationship pattern you’re ready to release. Be specific. Vague releasing rarely sticks.
02
Get honest about your Rising sign
Since the Nodal shift plays out through your houses, knowing your Rising sign is the single most useful thing you can do this week to make this personal rather than generic.
03
Take one visible, values-led action
With Jupiter this dignified in Leo, this is a genuinely lucky window to be seen doing the thing you actually believe in, not performing for approval. Book that call, launch that offer, post that truth.
Your Next Twenty Months Start Now
Awareness Is The Easy Part
Every twenty years or so, the Nodes hand you a genuine reset button. Most people will read a horoscope this week and forget it by Friday. The ones who actually change their life are the ones who commit to a plan and follow through while the energy is this potent.
